Book Report: Way of the Superior Man by David Deida

Posted in Book Reviews at 1:14 pm by BartonG

You might have already heard of this book, especially if you are familiar with David DeAngelo, the “Double your Dating” mogul. He mentions Way of the Superior man in a few of his products. Specifically, his Mastery Series has a lot of David Deida flavor to it. No matter, if you’re familiar, great, if not, you’re about to become so.

My ‘First Night’

Posted in Personal, Social at 6:48 pm by BartonG

Warning: Do not read this post if you are my wife. It contains sensitive information that will again reveal what a scoundrel I was (and still am). You know I am a pig. No need to rub it in. And no, this is not about losing my virginity.

I was reflecting on life before marriage and remembered a grand anecdote. Grand? Yea, awesome. Huge. Beautiful. Monolithic*. At the time, it was like a heavy bout of airplane turbulence that causes items in your suitcase to dramatically be arranged differently.  It’s strange that I haven’t told anybody about it yet.

Fade in. It’s December 1999.   Read the rest of this entry »

How to make 25 dollars immediately

Posted in Abundance at 8:52 am by BartonG

Normally, I’m against searching for the quick cash. Short term gratification is notorious for producing an overall negative effect. However, there occasions that you get to have you cake and eat it too, with little or no strings attached. This isn’t a huge money making deal, but it’s 25 bucks.

Here is the straight deal. ING Direct is having a promotion to get your friends to get an account. When a friend refers you and you start an account (assuming you don’t already have one) with $250, they give you $25 in your account and give $10 to your friend (me).

5 Suggestions for more Organic PUA

Posted in Social at 3:30 pm by BartonG

When I think of how to teach guys to increase the quality of their results, I usually give advice centered around what I loosely term, ‘organic methods of pua’. From www.webster.com , I highlight the meanings “forming an integral element of a whole; fundamental … having systematic coordination of parts”. Another word that describes my pua philosophy currently is holistic. I like a lot of ideas from natural and direct game. If you’ve traveled down the road of PUA and haven’t quite found what you’re looking for, try out an organic, holistic approach with these five pieces of counsel and associated tips. You’ll notice that each theme plays on the others a little bit. I think you’ll find them refreshing.

Four Life Long Maxims

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:59 am by BartonG

There have been a few maxims I’ve personally adopted that have made me a better person. It’s strange, because I’ve adapted them from my own life to my own life. The saying themselves aren’t mine, but the interpretation are. Kudos to those who have gone before and said something worthwhile enough to make my life better. Thank you.

I hope that you become the author of your own powerful maxims because I truly believe that you (not me) are the goose who lays golden eggs*. Below are the four maxims.

Book Report: Silent Power by Stewart Wilde

Posted in Book Reviews at 3:20 pm by BartonG

Wilde’s ‘Silent Power’ is a small book, and the version I bought could probably fit into my pants pockets and took a couple of sessions in the man’s library to finish. I originally read this book way back in 99 and gave it another look over a while back. It has a new age flavor, but don’t be put off - it has quite a few solid ideas applicable no matter what your belief system. The main thrust of the book is that you have an internal silent power that influences and communicates with others. With time, you can control and perceive your silent power.

Book Reports

Posted in Book Reviews at 2:23 pm by BartonG

I’m a nerd, I know it. I write little reports of books I’ve read to help me remember and collate the important information in them. I also keep a variety of my assignments for my college classes that may be useful to you.

In addition to a straightforward ‘cliff notes’ style post, I also like to add my 2 cents while I’m at it.

If you’ve read the book, comment about what you thought of it. If you have a question about the book, I’ll try to answer it. I usually keep a copy of the book somewhere, so don’t hold back!

Here are some of the books I plan to post reports for in the next few weeks.
