As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.

I’ve been thinking about money matters a lot lately. Money is very important part of life - it’s silly to argue otherwise. Money is just as good as the food you eat, the schooling it provides, and the shelter it buys your family. Without a doubt, one of the biggest problems I see in peoples lives is their relationship to money. It’s such a shame too, because financial balance is key to allowing you to pursue your mission and passions in life.
Almost everywhere I hear the echo of the million dollar question ” How do I get rich?”, as it dribbles off the lips of the struggling, hopeful masses. The vain aspiration, “I want be a millionaire” irks me just about as much. To me, getting “rich” doesn’t matter and improving your financial situation isn’t just about making a huge sum money. For me, I want freedom to live, love and teach according to my own rules, not just have a gaudy pile of money. It’s about balancing the ratio of having the things that money can’t buy and many of the things it can.
With this in mind, here’s the elusively obvious secret to wealth : Read the rest of this entry »

I was pondering the events of last week. My brother and his wife were anxiously awaiting the birth of their son, his projected due date about a week away. However, the baby died in utero early Wednesday morning, and then was birthed painfully few hours later. It is difficult to illustrate the sadness and details of the circumstances. I have been more affected in my heart by this death than any other in my life. There are many things I wish to say, to cry out, to write … I hope that I can bring light, comfort, and love. I am grateful for the abundance I have already received, as well as that which will shown to me. But what abundance is to come?

It’s Friday, 4:04 AM. I groggily retrieve my cell phone, preempting the alarm. I want to sleep in. As I flip the phone open, I notice something unusual. It’s 4:04 AM, January 1st.
2038.
I have, according to my wife, slept for 38 years*. Which is a long time. But of course, I figure out what has gone wrong. I’m not Rip Van Winkle, I just need a new cell phone. One that can tell accurate time, up to the minute - or perhaps even accurate with a five minute spread would be nice, in comparison.
I’m glad I didn’t miss out on a bunch of life, because I have some exciting things in the works. I have a host of ambitions and finally the resolve, commitment, and maturity to put a framework under the dreams. In short, my life is increasing in it’s abundance.

Normally, I’m against searching for the quick cash. Short term gratification is notorious for producing an overall negative effect. However, there occasions that you get to have you cake and eat it too, with little or no strings attached. This isn’t a huge money making deal, but it’s 25 bucks.
Here is the straight deal. ING Direct is having a promotion to get your friends to get an account. When a friend refers you and you start an account (assuming you don’t already have one) with $250, they give you $25 in your account and give $10 to your friend (me).

I always have been fascinated with the “abundant life”. It’s the idea that there is more than enough of everything out there- love, food, sex, warmth, material wealth, social engagement, serenity, and challenging pursuits - to have all of your needs met in excess. What fascinates me even more is that it seems reasonably seems plausible, not just for me and you, but for everyone on the planet. What a magnificent evolution that would be!
I’ve been particularly lucky in my life to have inspiring friends and incredible teachers. I’ve learned a lot from them. Just like they shared with me, I’d like to share the few secrets I know. As I discover and apply new principles I’ll post more chapters. Today, I’d like to address a few things about money and food.
